A little bit about BSF larvae
BSF stand for Black soldier fly or scientifically called Hermetia illucens. It is world known for decomposing food waste and helping the world to reduce waste product from entering landfill. it is because before it become fly, it went through larvae stages where they can eat our food waste.
The world now is going toward sustainability, this larvae in a way help us to eliminate our waste by eating it and the larvae can be the food source for our livestock like chicken, goat, fish and etc. BSF larvae have high protein and calcium that making livestock more heavier and the meat will be more dense. it increasing our food source.
now lets learn its life cycle
starting with adult fly, it will live for 8-9 day for mating and produce egg (about 300-600 egg). the egg will hatch in 4 day, it will enlarge in size. then it will go through larvae stage, they will feed on organic material and it grow rapidly in 10-52 days. during this larvae stage, they will eat whatever that you give until it reach prepupal stage in 7-10 day. starting from prepupal, the will not feed anymore and it staring to be dry. after that, it will be completely dry in pupal stage in the minimum of 8 day, it will not move or eat. then it will hatch to become adult fly.
during the larvae stage, we can them to be feed for our livestock and they have good nutrient, high protein and high calcium. we can dried them or give live to our livestock. since the life cycle is short, it is fast and easy to cultivate them. saving a lot of time and money.
this is why this larvae become very well known in the world for fighting our waste product and moving forward to sustainability. they can make our waste disappear also give nutrient for our food source.
hope you find what you looking for here, and have a nice day
